WE rate the Burnley players after the 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Tom Heaton 6

Could do nothing about any of the goals. Didn’t have to make a save in the first 45 minutes. Was called into action a couple of times after the break. Tried to rouse his side.

Phil Bardsley 6

Unfortunate with the own goal when Schlupp’s cut back cannoned in on off him. Remained committed and never shied away from a challenge

James Tarkowksi 6

Distribution remains a concern with a couple of wayward passes. Was solid enough but part of a general defensive malaise in the aftermath of Zaha’s third.

Ben Mee 6

Did his best to battle away against Batshuayi. Posed an attacking threat from set pieces.

Charlie Taylor 6

Was left flummoxed by Zaha for the third after coping well with him in the first half. Got forward well and was a willing runner.

Jeff Hendrick 6

Worked himself into a couple of good positions but final ball let him down. Perhaps unfortunate at the break by Gudmundsson.

Ashley Westwood 7

Restored to the side after missing the Newcastle defeat through illness and was combative in the middle of the park and Burnley’s best player.

Jack Cork 6

His first touch let him down on occasion but he continued to work hard. Could do with restoring the goal threat that he seemed to carry early season.

Dwight McNeil 6

His decision making was occasionally off but he kept going and worked hard. Seemed to tire in the second half.

Chris Wood 6

Had the best chance of the first half when he was denied by a strong Hennessey save. Struggled to lead the line. Didn’t really happen for him

Ashley Barnes 6

Had a quiet first half but was much more threatening after the break. Missed a good chance from a matter of yards and converted late header.
