BURNLEY captain Ben Mee admits he doesn’t know what has gone wrong for his side so far this season with the Clarets sitting in the bottom three.

A change of formation almost saw Sean Dyche’s side come away with a point at Wembley, only to be undone by a stoppage time Spurs goal in a 1-0 defeat.

The centre half felt the switch to a back three worked well and expects more of the same at Arsenal on Saturday.

“I don’t know what’s gone wrong, it’s hard to put your finger on it,” said Mee of Burnley’s start to the season. “It’s a different league, it’s a different year and we haven’t performed up to the standard we did last year, and we need to get back to doing that.

“Like I say, we’ve been working hard and hopefully we can achieve that.”

On the decision to field a back three, with Mee alongside James Tarkowski and Kevin Long in the centre of defence, the 29-year-old added: “The gaffer went with a different formation, I thought it worked reasonably well and obviously we were pretty solid for most of the game.

“During the week the gaffer said he’d been thinking about it for a while, so it was the right time to try it.

“We know we’ve got a big game next as well, we’re back down to London, hopefully we can carry that form on and get something.”
