Rovers should take pride in their 2018 home form as they look to sign off with a positive result against high-flying Norwich City.

That is the view of boss Tony Mowbray who has seen his side lose just one of their home league matches this year.

Mowbray believes the club should take pride in the record, with Sheffield United the only team to have beaten Rovers since a 1-0 defeat to AFC Wimbledon in September 2017.

There have been some disappointing draws along the way, not least Saturday’s game with Birmingham City, but Rovers have certainly proven a tough nut to crack on their own patch.

Their final home game of the year pits them against the Canaries, who arrive in East Lancashire second in the table.

“We need to move our attentions to Norwich City now,” Mowbray said.

“It’s another home game, of course, and we should take pride in our home record.

“We as a squad need to be prepared for whatever they throw at us, because they’re playing very well at the moment and will be looking to remain in the top three.

“We need to remain focused and try to do our best, in-front of our fans, to get another three points that will strengthen our position in the league.”

Having seen two more points slip through their fingers on Saturday, Rovers go in to a tough festive period 12th in the table, five points shy of the top six.

With games against leaders Leeds United, fifth-placed Sheffield United and third-placed West Bromwich Albion to follow, it will be a tough test for Rovers’ top-half credentials.

While a win over Birmingham would have been a confidence boost ahead of those four fixtures, Mowbray still knows his side can cause problems for the teams above them in the standings.

Of the Blues draw, the boss told the club website: “Although it felt like a defeat, we mustn’t dwell on it. We need to stay together and stay focused during our tough festive fixtures.

“It would have been much nicer to sit on 33 points, rather than 31, as we would have leapfrogged a couple of teams and would have been on the cusp of the top six.

“The three points would have been important going into our tough festive period as before we know it, the top teams are going to end up pulling away from the rest of us.”
