BURNLEY look set to be without Aaron Lennon for the trip to Arsenal on Sunday after the winger picked up a knock in the weekend defeat to Tottenham.

The 31-year-old is struggling with the knee problem and he may require surgery having seen a specialist and underwent a scan on Monday.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche said: “I will find out more accurate information later, but he has a chance of needing an operation.

“We had it checked out and it looks like there was something there, and they will deal with that accordingly.”

But the Clarets could be handed a boost with the return of Johann Berg Gudmundsson.

The Iceland international missed the Wembley loss with a knock but is in contention for the trip to the Emirates.

“He’s trained properly yesterday and today (Tuesday) and it’s still early in the week, so we’re hopeful,” said Dyche, who added that defender Stephen Ward was back in full training.

“He’s back in training and back on the grass with us, but will need a bit of time yet,” said the boss of the full back.
