Former Rovers boss Paul Lambert has reportedly lined up moves for ex-Ewood duo Rudy Gestede and Ben Marshall.

The Tractor Boys are struggling at the foot of the Championship table, with just two wins all season and are currently five points from safety.

Lambert, who replaced Paul Hurst after he was sacked in October, is said to be keen on loan deals for both Gestede and Marshall.

Marshall, who worked under Lambert at Rovers, has also been short of game-time of late.

Having signed for Norwich City in the summer, the 27-year-old has played just five times in all competitions.

Marshall left Rovers for Wolves in January 2017, but he spent last season with Millwall who are another to be linked with his services, though Lions boss Neil Harris has distanced himself from those reports.

The winger has been an unused substitute in each of the Canaries’ last eight league matches, but will hope to feature against his former club this weekend.

Gestede scored 35 times for Rovers before leaving for Aston Villa in the summer of 2015.

Lambert was appointed as Rovers boss later that calendar year, but is said to have identified the 30-year-old as someone to help try and fire them to safety.

Gestede, currently out injured, has played just six times for Middlesbrough this season having fallen behind Jordan Hugill and Britt Assombalonga in the pecking order.
