Clarets player ratings after the 1-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.

JOE HART – 8

Made a couple of fantastic saves to keep his side level, most notably diving low to his right from an Erik Lamela effort late in the second half.

PHIL BARDSLEY – 7

Part of a defence that frustrated the Spurs attack until almost the last kick of the game. Played right wing back and tried to get up the pitch as much as possible. Booked for time-wasting.

BEN MEE – 7

It was a strong display from the captain. His positioning was good as he seemed to be in the right place to head clear any crosses from danger.

KEVIN LONG – 7

Was steady in the back three. Doesn’t start matches very often, but you wouldn’t have known from his performance at Wembley.

JAMES TARKOWSKI – 7

Dealt with Harry Kane well, although he was lucky to get away with a penalty shout from the Tottenham man. Tarkowski defended resolutely and his positioning was brilliant.

CHARLIE TAYLOR – 6

Was the poorest out of the Burnley defence, but he was up against Kieron Trippier and Lamela down that side. Played a good ball through to Chris Wood towards the end of the match.

AARON LENNON – 6

Worked hard in the midfield to help out Bardsley on the right side. Posed no attacking threat but put in a shift for his side.

ASHLEY WESTWOOD – 7

Put in a real shift in the midfield two as him and Cork were outnumbered by the three of the home side. He tried to get about the pitch and impose himself, but it was difficult.

JACK CORK – 6

Much like his midfield partner, he broke up play well and was clever to win his side free kicks to bring much needed respite. Worked hard.

ROBBIE BRADY – 5

Didn’t offer too much going forward as he was too deep on the pitch to link up with Ashley Barnes. Brady offered his side good set piece delivery which they threatened from a couple of times.

ASHLEY BARNES – 6

The striker was the most isolated man on the pitch. He was playing up against the Spurs back four practically on his own. Had a goal bound effort early in the second half that was well blocked.
