BURNLEY were beaten by Tottenham Hotspur by a 90th minute Christian Eriksen goal.

It looked as though Sean Dyche’s men were going to hold on to the much needed point, but the Dane thought otherwise as his first time finish from inside the box beat Joe Hart.

This result leaves Burnley two points above the relegation zone.

The first half began rather slowly with the Clarets looking to contain Spurs whilst in their new 3-4-3 formation.

As expected, the home side had the majority of the ball with Burnley looking to break up play and counter.

In the 14th minute, Robbie Brady swung in a lovely corner that dropped to Charlie Taylor at the back post but the left back’s touch was off as he wasn’t expecting the ball to arrive at his feet.

The first chance for Spurs came in the 18th minute as a ball over the top by Erik Lamela landed at the feet of Lucas Moura. His volley was just wide of the post; with Joe Hart beaten.

Lamela then had the best chance of the half for the visitors on the half hour mark. Spurs broke from a free kick on the edge of their area, the ball came to Moussa Sissoko who played in Lamela in the box, but Hart did well to come out and smother the Argentine.

A rare attack came for Burnley in the 44th minute as a poor Hugo Lloris clearance fell to Phil Bardsley, but his cross from the right was too high for Ashley Barnes who could only get a slight connection on the header.

Sean Dyche’s men started the second half well and almost took the lead.

A floated free kick fell to Lennon, who crossed first time. Barnes met the cross with a goal bound scissor kick, but it was blocked.

The home crowd were getting frustrated and this resulted in Taylor and Bardsley being booked for time wasting.

With 15 minutes remaining, Lamela looked certain to open the scoring, but his effort from seven yards was saved brilliantly by Hart.

With seven minutes to go, Burnley had a dangerous spell themselves as Taylor played in Chris Wood down the left, he got in to the box but it was well defended by Toby Alderweireld.

Two minutes later and Spurs had their best chance of the game. Trippier’s cross was nodded down by Fernando Llorente to Heung-Min Son, the South Korean then pulled his shot wide of the far post.

In to the 90th minute and Wembley erupted as substitute Christian Eriksen put his side in front with a first-time finish from 15 yards.
