DEFENDER James Tarkowski feels he is at no greater advantage having insider knowledge of Harry Kane’s game.

The pair are England team-mates but will be on opposite sides at Wembley this afternoon, where Burnley take on Spurs.

“I do know his game slightly better, but stopping him is a different story,” said Tarkowski.

“He’s made to score goals. That’s what he’s best at, that’s what he knows to do.

“You’ve got to say he’s one of the best I’ve seen in my career so far because of his record. The amount of goals he’s scored is ridiculous.

“Stopping someone like him from getting one chance in a game is difficult enough, and stopping him scoring it is even harder. We need to be on our game if we are going to stop him.”

Kane won back-to-back Premier League Golden Boots in 2015/16 and 2016/17, and went on to receive the Golden Boot at this year’s World Cup, with six goals.

Wayne Rooney is England’s record goalscorer with 53, but Tarkowski has not ruled out the chance of Kane, who has 35 caps and 20 goals, catching him.

“I think he’s started that way. Obviously Wayne Rooney had a fantastic career, he was one of England’s greatest players. Harry has some way to go, but he has time and he’s well on his way to doing that.”

“But this is why you want to be in the Premier League, to play against the best teams and the best players.

“It’s always a great opportunity to show what you can do. We look forward to these games and embracing them.”
