Between them, Bradley Dack, Danny Graham and Charlie Mulgrew shared 49 goals in all competitions last season.

They have been the main source of goals for Rovers again this season, with Dack leading the way on 11, with Graham on eight and Mulgrew having netted his fifth with last weekend’s excellent free kick at Middlesbrough.

In the Championship, 21 of Rovers’ 26 goals have come from the trio, with only four other players off the mark.

But boss Tony Mowbray isn’t concerned, or worried about an over-reliance, particularly given the positions Dack and Graham operate in, and Mulgrew’s proficiency from set plays which has seen him score three penalties, one free kick, and directly from a corner at Bristol City.

“I think as the season unfolds the goals will get spread,” the boss explained.

“It’s good that your forwards are scoring, and important that they are.

“Charlie with how he is from dead balls, never mind his penalties, as he showed last weekend he will keep scoring goals.

“He won’t be far away from double figures come the end of the season.”

One area Mowbray will be keen to see improvement though is goals from the wide areas.

However, a combination of form and fitness means no-one is yet to fully nail down those spots.

Elliott Bennett has had to fill in at right back for spells this season, while Craig Conway is only just back in the team.

Harrison Reed has switched between wide and central midfield roles so far, and with goals at Stoke City and West Brom, is the only other member of the squad to have more than one league goal to his name.

Kasey Palmer netted the winner against Brentford in August, while Adam Armstrong got off the mark in the league against Nottingham Forest in September.

Armstrong, who has started twice as a central striker, has had 36 shots so far this season, 20 of which have come from inside the box.

Summer additions Joe Rothwell and Ben Brereton have played just 525 and 241 minutes respectively in the league, but will be desperate to get their names on the scoresheet to try and force Mowbray’s hand.

On the need for a greater goal output from the attacking positions, Mowbray said: “The wide midfielders have to score and something we’ve spoken about.

“Harrison Reed has looked a threat I would have to say, he has the energy to get in behind our strikers, and he’s scored at Stoke and West Brom.

“But there is more to come from that area. We need goals from all parts of the pitch.

“Craig Conway’s performances have got him back in the team and he has contributed with his work ethic and his quality of putting balls in to the box with his left and right foot but he has to chip in with goals as well.

“As I say to them all, they all have to grab their chance when it comes by sticking the ball in the net or create chances and that will push them forward in my mind for the next one.”
