WE take a look at three talking points from Burnley's 3-1 defeat at home to Liverpool on Wednesday night.

PHYSICALITY

NO one can say Burnley's players were not up for the fight against title-chasers Liverpool. With 10 fouls in the game, the Clarets were willing to try and rough Liverpool up.

Jurgen Klopp was unhappy with some of the tackles, particular as one of his young defenders was stretchered off with an ankle injury. But although Burnley’s challenges were hard, they were fair.

This was proven by only one yellow card being shown to a Clarets player during the match.

A strong tackle on James Milner in the first minute set the tone for the match, Burnley were up for it and the crowd responded.

As soon as Mo Salah came on to the field, the returning James Tarkowski let him know he wasn't going to have it easy.

Ashley Barnes was putting himself about upfront; trying to disrupt the rhythm the Liverpool defenders had. This is what Burnley require from their forwards.

UPBEAT CROWD

BURNLEY put in a performance to reward the backing they received from the Turf Moor faithful.

Sean Dyche highlighted in his post-match press conference that the crowd stuck with the team throughout the game and were fantastic.

No team looked forward looked forward to playing at Turf Moor the previous two seasons, there is a feeling that this level of fear is returning to East Lancashire as Burnley are looking to get back to their best.

Having this support from a home crowd can help lift any team out of a bad run of form. The Clarets need this level of support consistently if they are to pull themselves out of the bottom three.

This was a much-improved performance compared to the one they put in away at Crystal Palace, when they lost 2-0.

Despite being without a win since the end of September and only taking two points from the last 24 on offer, the crowd stayed with their men and Dyche will be hoping this continues throughout the season.

Burnley sit in 19th but are only one point from safety, a win against Brighton on Saturday could lift them out of the drop zone.

GOALS CONCEDED

THE biggest worry for Sean Dyche and Burnley fans is the amount of the goals the Clarets have shipped so far this season.

We aren't even halfway through the season and the Burnley defence has conceded only seven goals fewer than they had in the whole of last season.

They have the second worst defensive record in the league and have a goal difference of -18.

This is massively unlike Burnley, who last season had the sixth best defensive record in the league.

Some Burnley fans are calling for the return of Tom Heaton in goal, but I don't see how this would solve the problem.

Joe Hart has 75 England caps and has two Premier League winners’ medals to his name.

Hart made some wonderful saves against Liverpool on Wednesday night, most notably the fingertip save on to the post from Naby Keita's strike from distance.
