Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has equalled an 11 year record held by former Rovers striker Benni McCarthy.
The Gunners striker scored twice in a 4-2 win over Tottenham on Sunday to take his tally for the season to 10 goals, and does so from his last 10 shots on target.
The Premier League revealed that not since McCarthy, during his time at Rovers, has a player scored with 10 consecutive shots on target in the competition.
While Aubameyang’s record was set over a 100 day period, McCarthy’s stretched over two seasons.
The South African scored in six of Rovers’ final eight Premier League games of the 2006/07 season, to take his tally to 24 in 50 games in all competitions after signing from Porto.
The following season he scored in the October win over Manchester City before a goal-laden October saw him find the net four times in three Premier League games, which became a Premier League record.
That stood for 11 years until being equalled following Aubameyang’s double against Spurs as the striker from the spot to put his side 1-0 up in the first half, before levelling in the second half with an excellent first time finish.
