Bradley Dack felt an ‘honest’ team meeting proved key to Rovers getting back to winning ways against Sheffield Wednesday.

Rovers held a clear the air meeting on Thursday after disappointing defeats at Preston and Wigan saw them ship seven goals and drop in the bottom half of the Championship.

Dack had a hand in all four of Rovers’ goals in the 4-2, involving in each of Danny Graham’s three as well as netting his 11th of the season.

And after getting back to winning ways, the 24-year-old said: “It’s been a tough week, two poor results and the team in there isn’t used to losing.

“It’s something we had to put right.

“We had a meeting in the week and went through what we had to put right.

“We assessed what had gone wrong and made sure we put it right.

“There was some honesty from everyone, we were open and honest with each other, and if people get dug out it’s not because you don’t like anyone, it’s about trying to make the team better.

“People said a few things and we got the best out of each other.”

Rovers took the lead in the 11th minute through Graham as Tony Mowbray’s side enjoyed a fast start to proceedings.

The three points were enough to take Rovers back in to the top half of the table and Dack was pleased with the display from start to finish.

He added: “The way we played was back to our best.

“That’s what we’ve been good at in the last 18 months and that’s what we had gone away from in the last couple of games.

“From the first minute you could see the desire in everyone to go and get those three points.”

Rovers conceded twice, despite the Owls only having two shots on target, to twice reduce the arrears at 2-1 and 3-2.

That could have brought an edginess to Rovers, but instead they hit back through goals of their own.

And Dack felt they showed great spirit to respond to those setbacks, which helped prove key to the victory, Rovers’ seventh of the season.

“I think it shows the character of the team,” Dack explained.

“We did let our heads go down and kept going forward and to get the goals when we did was great.

“There were some good goals.

“That is something we have struggled with, we scored from set pieces and didn’t create much from open play.

“We could have more than four, but it was lovely to get the four goals we did.”

Graham moved to eight for the season with his trio of strikes which gave him a first hat trick in more than 10 years.

His first two goals were rebounds from Dack shots, the first saved by Cameron Dawson and the second coming back off the post.

And while Dack would likely have preferred his shots to find the back of the net, he said of his strike partner: “Danny is a great finisher and really deserved his three goals.

“It would have been nice for those shots that fell to him to have gone in, but that’s Danny in a nutshell, he follows in like all good strikers.”
