Danny Graham savoured a first hat trick in 10 years and claimed it was made extra special coming at the end of a difficult week for Rovers.

Graham netted three times for Tony Mowbray’s men in an emphatic response to back-to-back defeats on the road at Preston and Wigan against Sheffield Wednesday.

It was a first hat trick in 10 years for the 33-year-old who last scored three times for Carlisle United in a win over Yeovil in August 2008.

Graham came off the bench to score in the 4-1 defeat at Preston last weekend, before being taken off at half time against Wigan in a 3-1 reverse on Wednesday.

Reflecting on his goals which fired Rovers to a fourth home win of the season, the striker said: “I'm obviously delighted to get a hat-trick.

“On the back of the last few results we've had, it was extra special.

“I thought the lads came out and stood up as men. We defended well at times and when we broke we were clinical.

“That's what we have to be every week. We'll put those last two games behind us now and hopefully move forward.”

Graham scored three doubles for Rovers last season, twice in 2016/17 and once while on loan in the second half of the 2015/16 campaign.

He told the club website: “I've had a few doubles in my time here and it hasn't fallen to me or whatever, so I'm delighted to get the hat-trick today.

“But the most important thing after the week we've had was to get the three points, get that confidence back and we can now look forward to a tough December.”
