RIBBLE Valley Netball Club sent three squads to the Red Bull Switch Up tournament in London - a national event that attracted top sides from all over the country who competed in the exciting four-a-side format.

Hosted by Netball superstar Tamsin Greenway at The Copperbox Arena - a venue that hosted handball during the London 2012 Olympics - Ribble Valley provided three of the 36 teams that took part in the morning’s Challenger Event and enjoyed almost non stop success.

Competing in an initial round robin format, all three East Lancashire teams topped their groups as the Lancashire girls adapted best to the speed and distance shooting required.

A series of feisty quarter finals ended with Ribble Valley providing three of the four semi finalists and ultimately the final was played out was an all-Lancashire affair.

The final was won by Ribble Valley Blue captained by Niamh Kay who had the honour of lifting the impressive trophy.

Club head coach Jane Moodie, whose first team play in the NW Premier League, was delighted with the performance of all 16 Ribble players taking part.

After the final she said: “It’s been a fabulous opportunity to bring our players to an international standard venue and experience an event like this.

“To have all three teams make the semis is amazing and they have represented the club and Lancashire netball impeccably all weekend.”

The winning team included Tamsin Greenway, Freya Dean, Lucy Halstead, Lucy Alexander, Niamh Kay and Beth Tomlinson.
