WE asses how the Burnley players performed in the 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United on Monday night.

Have your say in the comments below.

Joe Hart 6

Could do nothing about either goal and didn't really have too many saves to make. Came up for two late corners and delivered a couple of balls into the box as he advanced from his net in the closing stages.

Matt Lowton 6

Found space on the right when going forward but overhit a couple of crosses. Defended well and worked hard in tandem with Lennon.

Ben Mee 6

Unfortunate to see Fernandez’s strike flick off him and in. Crossed for Vokes’ goal and visibly tried to lift the Clarets in the second half as they sought an equaliser.

Kevin Long 6

Performed well and shackled Rondon to the extent that he was replaced. Has stepped into the Burnley backline seamlessly over recent weeks.

Charlie Taylor 6

Offered an outlet down the left and was a willing option. Perhaps fortunate to avoid conceding a penalty for his lunge on Yedlin prior to Ritchie's miss.

Aaron Lennon 5

Worked hard both defensively and offensively on the right but needs to bring more to the table. One injury time burst aside, he didn't beat his full back.

Jack Cork 6

Came deep to try and instigate play in a first half where he struggled to win the midfield battle. Regularly on the ball but was left short of options on more than one occasion.

Steven Defour 6

Came alive after the Burnley goal when he began to get on the ball a bit more and started to dictate play. Was quiet in the opening 40 minutes.

Robbie Brady 5

Looked a yard off the pace. Conceded possession far too easily and struggled to impose himself on the game while his delivery was not up to his high standard. Still feeling his way back after injury.

Sam Vokes 7

Scored a stunning header and worked hard all night. Was very unfortunate to be penalised twice in the first over for what were deemed overly-physical challenges when well placed.

Chris Wood 5

Had a poor night. Missed Burnley's best chances including a second half volley where he should have hit the target. Another who seemed a yard short.
