Danny Graham believes Rovers’ togetherness will help them bounce back from a disappointing defeat at Preston when they travel to Wigan tomorrow.

Rovers were uncharacteristically poor at Deepdale as they fell to a 4-1 defeat, their fourth loss of the season, but second by that scoreline.

Graham was on target, heading in a Harrison Reed free kick just three minutes after coming off the bench, in what was a rare bright spot for the visitors as they looked to haul themselves back in to the game after a lacklustre start.

The 33-year-old, who has been short of time on the training pitch of late, will hope to earn a recall to the starting line-up at the DW Stadium with Kasey Palmer having led the line against Preston.

And while Graham says the Rovers players accept responsibility for the defeat, there is no blame game within the dressing room.

“The togetherness we have is very good, one of the best I’ve been involved in, and Wednesday can’t come quick enough for us,” he said.

“The lads have spoken. The two centre halves have said they could have done better, but we won’t blame anyone.

“There have been times where I’ve missed chances and we haven’t won.

“We stick together and we get ready to go again on Wednesday.”

Boss Tony Mowbray rued the individual mistakes which led to Rovers’ downfall against Preston.

They conceded twice in the opening 10 minutes, and twice more in 11 second half minutes in shipping four for a second time this term.

And having re-watched the video, Graham says Rovers will look to address that when they visit Wigan.

He added: “We’ve had a look back to see where we went wrong and we will hopeful rectify that on Wednesday night.

“We want to produce better than we showed (against Preston) and the lads are already talking about putting things right on Wednesday.”

Rovers and Wigan were both promoted from League One last season having both been relegated from the Championship in 2016/17.

Mowbray’s men enjoyed a season-long battle, with Paul Cook’s men beating Rovers to the title by one point.

And Graham is aiming for a positive result against the Latics to take in to Saturday’s home game with Sheffield Wednesday.

“It was disappointing last season that Wigan pipped us to the league, but credit to them, they had a great season, much like ourselves,” said the striker.

“After Preston we really want to respond and get a positive result heading into a home game on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, Wigan have been rocked by an injury to star man Nick Powell in the weekend stalemate with Reading.

The attacker is a doubt for the visit of Rovers, with the Latics already without forwards Gavin Massey and Michael Jacobs (both hamstring) and defenders Chey Dunkley (knee) and Antonee Robinson (ankle).

Cook was able to welcome back striker Will Grigg on Saturday and he could be primed for a start tomorrow.

“It’s just the story of our season, with the lads and injuries.” said Cook. “We just keep going game to game, it is what it is. We try our best not to whinge about injuries, we just get on with it.”
