AFC Darwen are up to ninth place in Hallmark Security League Division One thanks to a 3-0 win over Cleator Moor Celtic.

After a caging opening, the Salmoners took the lead four minutes before the break through Nicholas McNally.

That lead was doubled on the hour mark by Kyle Ellis before Elliot Pond secured an eighth win of the season for Darwen with a third goal 13 minutes from time.

In the Premier Division, in-form Barnoldswick Town were in the goals as they hammered Abbey Hey 7-1.

Goals from Zac Dale and James Crorken put Barlick 2-0 up inside eight minutes before Robert Swallow pulled one back for the home side in the 12th minute.

Barlick restored their two-goal advantage before the break through Jack Coop and Dale went on to complete his hat-trick with two second half strikes while Andrew Hill and Shaun Airey were also on target.

Padiham led 2-0 at Burscough but had to settle for a 3-3 draw.

Lee Knight and Liam O'Neill put the Storks 2-0 up early in the second half before the home side replied through Chad Whyte and William Doherty.

Millenic Alli looked to have won it for Padiham with a 83rd minute goal only for Jordan Lorde to score an equaliser two minutes later.

In the First Division Cup, Bacup beat Barton 4-3 on penalties after the match ended 2-2.

Barnton twice led through goals from Ryan Malone only for Anthony Hall and Adrian Bellamy to equalise on each occasion.

In the Evo-Stik League West Division, Clitheroe went down 4-1 at Prescot Cables - after Lewis Sugden had given the Blues the lead.

Colne 3 Colwyn Bay 2

Colne moved up to third in the league with their second win in seven days at the Sovereign Play Stadium on Saturday. But once again the Reds subjected their supporters to a nail-biting finish as Colwyn Bay fought back from 3-0 down to score two in the last ten minutes.

After 22 minutes, a diagonal ball up the left wing released Brad Lynch for a run to the bye-line and his low cross into the goalmouth was laid back by Ollie Wood for Matty Morgan to fire into the bottom corner of the net to give Colne the lead.

As the visitors came back strongly Lassana Mendes missed a golden opportunity on 40 minutes when a low cross reached him at the far post and he fired over the bar with the empty net in front of him.

Colne pressed forward in the second half and after 53 minutes, the Reds went further ahead when Alex Coleman made a run on the right wing and his high cross fell to Lynch at the far post who drove in a low shot to double their lead.

On the hour, another good move by the Reds produced a third goal when Richard Taylor found Morgan on the right and his high cross was headed home by Wood at the far post.

But after 68 minutes, Colne were reduced to ten men when Taylor was sent off for his second yellow card.

And the visitors were given fresh hope when Tom McCready pulled a goal back with a speculative shot from outside the area after 82 minutes. And when Colwyn Bay won a corner three minutes into injury time, Alex Downes rose high at the near post to flash a header into the roof of the Colne net to reduce the arrears to 3-2.

But it was too late to affect the outcome of the game as the Reds ran out worthy winners despite the late setback.
