Elliott Bennett will miss Rovers’ trip to Wigan Athletic on Wednesday through suspension.
Bennett was booked in the closing stages of Saturday’s defeat at Preston North End after getting involved in an incident following two strong challenges by Harrison Reed.
The 29-year-old, who was sent off in the meeting at the DW Stadium last season, won’t now be available given that was his fifth yellow card of the season.
Bennett has started 17 of Rovers’ opening 18 matches so far this season and has been a regular in the starting line-up under Tony Mowbray so will be a miss as Rovers looked to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat.
Richie Smallwood was also booked at Deepdale and is now one yellow card away from serving a one match ban of his own.
Darragh Lenihan has been walking the tightrope since September, but the pair now only have to get through one more match without getting booked before the first amnesty of the season.
After this latest round of matches, the number of bookings needed to serve a ban will rise to 10. Anyone who reaches that number before the 37th match of the season will be suspended for two matches.
