CHORLEY will be looking to bounce back from their midweek FA Cup hammering when they hit the Trophy trail at Stockport County tomorrow.

The Magpies suffered a 7-0 defeat in their first round replay at Doncaster Rovers but manager Jamie Vermiglio wants his players to put that heavy defeat behind them ahead of the FA Trophy third round qualifying tie - and progress to the first round proper which would earn the club £6,000.

Vermiglio will be looking for an improved performance from his side following Tuesday night’s defeat in South Yorkshire.

Looking back on that defeat, he said: “A few players out there didn’t listen to the instructions and didn’t follow how we wanted to set out.

“Once you go one, two nil down it’s hard. You’re always chasing and then you leave gaps.”

Vermiglio said the replay at the high-flying League One outfit was a lot different to the home tie where the Magpies twice led only for Rovers to peg them back on each occasion.

He said: “It was a totally different game to the one at Victory Park where we started great, we were on the front foot and we had our home fans there.”

Chorley make a quick return to Edgeley Park having lost 3-0 in the National League North last month - during a run of games that saw Vermiglio’s side go five without a win in the league and cup.

That run ended with a brilliant 4-0 away win at Kidderminster Harriers last weekend.

Stockport’s own run of 12 games unbeaten came to an end when they lost 3-2 at Blyth Spartans on Tuesday.
