ROVERS Ladies goalkeeper Danielle Gibbons believes there is still more to come from Gemma Donnelly's side despite the club securing a spot in the last four of the Lancashire FA Challenge Cup.

Rovers swept aside Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies 6-1 last weekend thanks to goals from Eve Kennerley, an own goal, Lagan Makin, Bethany Donoghue, Lynda Shepherd and a second own goal.

But Gibbons felt Rovers, who fell behind early on, did not reach their potential despite the scoreline.

"We can play a lot better than that," she said.

"You need to be resilient, if you concede a goal in the first minute or the last minute you can't change your gameplan and we stuck to it and turned it round straight away.

"We are disappointed to concede a goal but are happy to be through to the next round."

It was the home side who opened the scoring when Caz Wilcocks capitalised on a defensive error to score.

But Rovers were back on level terms within 60 seconds when Kennerley cut inside to score her second in as many games.

Rovers took the lead in fortuitous circumstances as Jess Holbrook’s shot was cleared into a Fleetwood defender and rebounded into the net.

Gibbons then made a brilliant save to keep put Lauren Oatley as the home side searched for a leveller.

Holbrook came close to a third for Rovers before she set up Makin to extend the advantage before the break,

After the break, Rovers came close to a fourth through Makin and Natasha Fenton before a second own goal provided the visitors with some breathing space.

Sub Donoghue added a fifth before Shepherd made it six in the final 10 minutes.

The result puts Rovers into the last four along with Burnley Women, Fylde Ladies and Blackburn Community Sports Club Women ahead of the draw.

Donnelly's side return to league action on Sunday (2pm) when they entertain Doncaster Rovers Belles aiming to maintain their 100 per cent start to the league season.
