DAN Agyei scored a dramatic stoppage time winner to earn Burnley Under-23s a 4-3 win over Nottingham Forest in new boss Steve Stone’s first game in charge.

The three points moved the Clarets to the top of the Professional Development League in a topsy-turvy encounter at the Tameside Stadium.

Forest took the lead early on through Yassine En-Neyah before Dwight McNeil levelled with just eight minutes on the watch.

Tinashe Chakwana, who was forced off injured in the second half, put the Clarets in front and the home side extended their advantage through an own goal before Forest halved the deficit before the break.

The second half didn’t quite have the same number of goals but it was Forest who struck next when Alex Mighten scored from the spot.

But just as it looked like it would be honours even Agyei struck with a low finish in the dying seconds.

The win took Burnley to the top of the league, at least temporarily, ahead of Bolton’s game with Sheffield United which took place last night. Wanderers could go top with a win.

Meanwhile, Lewis Richardson scored five goals on his first start for Burnley’s Under-18 side as they secured a 6-1 win over Crewe in the Professional Development League.

The 15-year-old opened the scoring inside three minutes and doubled the lead just eight minutes later.

Crewe pulled one back midway through the half before Richardson sealed his hat-trick before the break.

Chris Conn-Clarke made it four before Richardson added two more to complete a comfortable victory.

Meanwhile, Burnley’s FA Youth Cup third round tie at home to Oxford United will take place at Turf Moor on Tuesday, December 11 (7pm).

Admission is £4 (adults), £2 (concessions) and £1 for season ticket holders of both clubs.
