BURNLEY defender James Tarkowski is facing a spell on the sidelines after undergoing further hernia surgery.

Tarkowski missed this afternoon's goalless draw after seeing a specialist about a groin injury.

Team-mate Ben Gibson is also recovering after having a similar operation last Sunday.

And there are further injury concerns over Steven Defour (knee) and Johann Berg Gudmundsson (calf) after both had to be withdrawn in this afternoon's goalless draw at Leicester City.

"Unfortunately, Tarky has had a hernia operation, Ben Gibson has had a hernia, Johann has a calf situation, and he’s done well to get out there," said manager Sean Dyche, who substituted Defour as a precaution with the midfielder only recently back after knee surgery.

“Steven, we think is not too serious, but with that knee, with what’s happened, we had to be careful, so he came off just to make sure because he went down a bit funny on it.

“It’s the same knee, but I spoke to him and he seems quite clear-minded about it, but it was still sore."
