GAME of the day in the Houlihan's Birkenhead Sunday Football League was in the Tony Houlihan League Memorial Challenge Cup third round tie.

It was an all premier division clash division leaders Heygarth FC - who had Ki Hughes with a double and singles from Carl Boyd and Dayne Murphy finding the net - inflicted a 4-2 defeat on Dock AFC, who replied through Matty Carlin and Jay Clare.

In a second all premier division battle cup holders Queens Park claimed their place in the next round with the same 4-2 scoreline.

On the scoresheet for Queens Park were Stewart Jackson, with a brace supplemented by efforts from Dave Webb and Ben Holmes, against Great Float Sports & Social.

Also making progress was Saughall (Andy James, Dave Ollerhead) who defeated Ellesmere Port Athletic (John Britton) by the odd goal in three 2-1.

Division One Shaftesbury Youth (Ben Malone 2, Owen Hassall, Ryan Youds) had a comfortable 4-0 success over premier division outfit Birch Tree.

Ben Ryan, Chris Ryan and John Dennis put South Rangers Athletic in the hat for the next round with a narrow 3-2 win at FC Tranmere (Ben McPartland, David Sadler), Lions FC (Samir Al Gamri 2, Ricky Harrison + og) romped home to a 4-1 win over Victoria Colts (Ryan Coles).

Lancelyn Glenavon maintained their 100% start to the League campaign with a fifth straight win, after posting a 5-1 win at Telegraph FC (Joe Foxley) in a Division One match.

On the mark were Nial Machin, Ben Glover, Gino King, Luke Dixon and a superb strike from Tom Fenley, hot on the heels of Lancelyn are Neston Nomads who had a resounding 9-3 result at New Ferry Rangers (Jerry Canady, Scott Connolly, Dunn) leading the way for Neston was Callum Blondel who hit seven, all of which were excellent finishes.

Completing the rout was Jamie Gardiner, with two in a 12 goal thriller.

In third place were Bushell Athletic, who had hat-trick hero Leon Jones and a further effort from Farris Baker to thank for a 4-1 defeat on FC Vineyard (Jake Williams).

A great match took place in division two, with Stirrup Sports & Social coming from 3-0 down to take all three points at Franklyn FC (Tom Sinkinson, Jay Harvey, Alex Wilson), Paul Devey bagged a pair with Chris Griffiths also netting and James Evans hit the winner in the last minute.

A surprise result saw Wirral FC (Ash McCoy and Aaron Griffiths) beat high-flying Corsair FC 2-0.

Division leaders Beechwood (Scott Billington, Tom Hayes and Adam Ledgerton) registered a 3-1 win over Upton Town (Sam Parker).

The only game in division three saw much-improved Barcodes FC take all three points in a ten-goal match, despite a fine treble from Stewart Davis for AFC Tima.

The Heswall side Barcodes had John Allan Hughes with three and two goals from Keiran Doherty and completing the scoring with singles were Luke Male and Shaun Skillen,

Next week will see two of our clubs in The FA National Sunday Cup second round, with Queens Park and Rock Ferry Social taking part.
