JACK Doyle will return to Rovers for a scan on his ankle which loan club Maidstone fear may be fractured.

Doyle rolled his ankle in training last week and missed the weekend win over Barnet which leaves Maidstone 19th in the National League table.

The 21-year-old had become a mainstay of the side under boss Harry Wheeler, starting seven consecutive matches after joining on a three month loan in September.

However, full back Doyle, who spent last season with Derry City, suffered an ankle injury in training and will now be assessed back at Rovers.

Stones boss Wheeler told Kent Online: “There's a possible fracture, so it could be a bad one.

“He’s just going to go back to Blackburn to see what the damage is.

“He’s going to have a scan and from there we’ll have to make a decision.”

Doyle made two appearances for the Rovers first team last season, making his debut off the bench in the Carabao Cup first round win at Coventry City before playing the full 90 minutes of the Checkatrade Trophy win over Stoke City Under-21s.
