ROLES were reversed for AFC Darwen in their midweek defeat to Daisy Hill, in the Hallmark Security League First Division North.

Having trailed to Holker Old Boys on Saturday, the Anchor Ground side bounced back to record a 2-1 home win thanks to goals from Daniel Taylor and Elliot Pond.

But having taken as 12th minute lead through Leon Creech when they hosted Daisy Hill on Wednesday, the visitors hit back with a Jack Iley hat-trick.

Iley equalised in the 38th minute before adding his second on the hour and then wrapping up a 3-1 away win - on their second win of the season - in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

AFC Darwen, who sit ninth with 21 points from 13 games, will hope to get back to winning ways at Lower Breck on Saturday, and close the gap on their fifth placed opponents.

Meanwhile, Nelson are struggling at the bottom of the table with just three wins from their 13 games. And their task does not get any easier this weekend as host leaders Longridge Town at Victoria Park.

League newcomers Lonridge have lost only once this season, and are the leading scorers by some distance, with 68 goals, and only 20 conceded.

As well as having their own agenda, Nelson will be hopeful of a favour from Bacup Borough, who host 18th placed Daisy Hill.

But mid-table Bacup will be taking nothing for granted against a side who caused an upset at Darwen on Wednesday night.

In the Premier Division, Barnoldswick Town will hope to get back to winning ways after their 4-0 humbling by Bootle on Saturday when they entertain struggling West Didsbury and Chorlton at the Silentnight Stadium on Saturday.

CHORLEY will bid to bounce back from back-to-back defeats and cement their place at the top of the table when they host Spennymoor on Saturday.

The Magpies have had their lead at the top trimmed after their first defeat of the season, at Bradford Park Avenue last weekend, was followed up by a 3-0 loss at Stockport on Tuesday night.
