RAMSBOTTOM United boss Chris Willcock has yet to taste defeat since joining the club but insists there is plenty more to come from his side.

The Rams are unbeaten in five since Willcock replaced Mark Fell and are on the road at struggling Skelmersdale United tomorrow.

A victory could push Rammy into the top seven and Willcock, who has overseen a big player turnover in recent weeks, is keen to see his side build on their recent performances.

He said: “I am delighted with the form, we are five games unbeaten with two draws and three wins.

“We are playing on the same ground twice in the next few days with Skelmersdale on Saturday and then Prescot Cables on Tuesday night and we want to push on up the table.

“There is a lot of work still to do to get us to where we want to be.

“We have had a lot of changes and we wanted more pace in the forward areas and I think we have that now.

“I had to make some decisions and bring in some players and some players have moved on.

“We have not come to this football club to tread water.”

The Rams, who won 3-0 at Frickley Athletic in the FA Trophy last weekend, have signed Jamie Rainford from Clitheroe but six players have left in recent weeks, including leading scorer Jerome Wright, who has stepped up to the Evo-Stik Premier League with Hyde United.

Willcock added: “Jerome couldn’t turn the offer down but we won at Trafford without him and scored three without him on Saturday so I am happy with the goal threat we have, although we never like losing good players.”

That Trophy success sets up a second qualifying round tie away at either Kidsgrove Athletic or Yaxley. That game has yet to take place while the Football Association investigate a potential player breach.

And Willcock is pleased to be in the hat and is looking forward to tie on November 10 - whoever his side end up facing.

“Financially it is good for the club and to have a second clean sheet in a row was good from my point of view,” said Willcock of last weekend’s win.

“We will have to wait and see who we play.

“It would have been nice to have a home tie, Yaxley would be a three-hour trip and Kidsgrove we lost to in the FA Cup this season so we know all about them.

“We will just have to wait and see who comes through.”

Elsewhere in the Evo-Stik West tomorrow, Colne entertain Trafford in a meeting of third versus fifth.

Steve Cunningham’s side could go top with a win.

Clitheroe, improving under Lee Ashforth, make the journey to Widnes as they bid to make it three league games unbeaten.
