SEAN Dyche has paid tribute to the people who lost their lives in the helicopter crash at Leicester City last weekend.

The Turf Moor boss believes the crash puts football into perspective, with tributes from across the world pouring in and scenes of sorrow around the King Power Stadium this weekend.

Dyche, his assistant Ian Woan and first team coach Tony Loughlan had all been at the Saturday evening fixture between the Foxes and West Ham.

They had left the ground when news broke of the crash, around an hour after full-time, that claimed the life of Leicester City chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and four others.

"We all get so into football, that we sometimes forget where it lives in our lives," said Dyche.

"I was there at the game with my assistant Ian and Tony, our first team coach, because we play those two teams next.

"Our thoughts go out to everyone involved, on behalf of the club, but it also brings come clarity to your thoughts sometimes."

Dyche understands the nature of football means supporters get so emotionally invested in their clubs and what goes on, but believes the crash adds some perspective to the game.

"The facts are that people will have moans and groans at their different clubs, but here was a brilliant fellow who did so much for his club, and suddenly he’s gone," he said.

“We all reflect on things differently when bad times come along, but it does offer a reminder of the reality of where football really is in all of our lives.

“We all want to be successful and we all want to win games, but sometimes you forget the really important stuff."

Dyche will take his side down to the London Stadium this weekend with the Hammers winless in four, with Manuel Pellegrini taking over in the summer.

"With a new manager it can take time to mould itself," he said.

"They maybe haven’t had the start they hoped for. There’s a spell in other divisions where you think that’s an easier run. Even the easier runs in the Premier League are not easy.

"We improved considerably on our away form last season. We’re refinding our form from last season and we’re not a million miles from where we were."
