Rovers Under 23s recorded their first win of the season on Wednesday afternoon as they emphatically beat Blackpool 6-0 at Brockhall, writes Charlotte Coates

Three goals in either half helped Rovers in to the last four of the Lancashire Senior Cup.

First team player, Jacob Davenport, played 75 minutes as he looks to regain match fitness following a lengthy injury layoff, while Paul Downing also featured.

Rovers went 1-0 up in the first three minutes as Joe Dodoo put in to his own net from a Joe Grayson corner.

A quick Rovers break saw John Buckley beat the Blackpool left back, cutting inside the last defender to coolly slot home.

Damien Johnson's team were well in control and could've made it 3-0 inside 20 minutes but Evans' shot inside the box struck the outside of the post.

Just six minutes later a penalty was awarded as Stefan Mols was brought down in the box. Grayson stepped up and made it 3-0.

Rovers controlled the rest of the first half as they went in 3-0 up at half time.

They only had to wait 10 minutes to make it 4-0 as Jack Evans slipped in Jack Vale, who opened his body to finish in to the far corner.

Substitute Okera Simmonds made it 5-0 with 15 minutes to go as his free kick took a big deflection off the wall to wrong-foot the Blackpool goalkeeper.

In the 79th minute the referee awarded another penalty to Rovers as Dan Butterworth was brought down in the area. He stepped up to take it but he struck the post.

Two minutes later, Evans rounded off the scoring for Johnson's side as he met Mols' cross with his head.

Rovers will look to find their first Premier League 2 win of the season when they host Liverpool on Monday (7pm) at Leyland.
