Darragh Lenihan will be assessed by Rovers after coming off in the defeat at Swansea City with a bruised hip.

The Irishman was replaced 12 minutes in to the 3-1 defeat and replaced by Jack Rodwell.

With a trip to high-flying West Brom on Saturday, Tony Mowbray will hope to have the 24-year-old available, but believes Rodwell can be a depdendable deputy.

“He’s taken a knock on the hip, it’s badly bruised,” Mowbray said of Lenihan.

“We’ll see how he is the next few days.

“You don’t moan about injuries, it’s part and parcel of the game and that’s why you have a substitutes bench.

“It was an opportunity for Rodwell to come on and I think he showed for long spells he can cope with playing in that position and doing the job. He looked very composed.

“Lenihan is a very mobile and athletic defender and one that we will miss if he’s not available for the next game.”

Danny Graham, who has been struggling with a sore back, again played for an hour before being replaced.

That saw Rovers move to a 4-3-3 formation, with Bradley Dack as the central striker, flanked by Adam Armstrong and Ben Brereton.

“Danny was a concern, whether we were going to bring him or not. It took us six hours to get here and then there was a lot of waiting about,” Mowbray added.

“Danny is an important player for us and it’s important to have him on the pitch than not but also not to flog him.

“We have other options.

“I think Dack can play that position, Armstrong can.

“I don’t think Danny would have done anything to stop the first goal or done anything about the left winger cutting inside for the second and slide a ball through.”
