Brighouse Town Ladies 2

Chorley Women 2

CHORLEY Women's unbeaten start to the season continued as they drew at top of the table Brighouse Town.

The visitors started brightly and nearly made an early breakthrough but Scarlett Smith fired wide after good work by Grace Vella.

But shortly after, they did take the lead when Smith held the ball up before releasing Chloe Wild who’s strike powered in to the back of the net.

Chorley began to press forward once again and Laura Walker almost doubled their lead with a strike from distance.

But with half time approaching, Brighouse levelled from the penalty spot.

The second half started much the same as the first; with Chorley dominating proceedings.

The first chance of the half fell to Lisa Topping but her left-footed drive was palmed away by the goalkeeper.

Walker was pulling the strings for Chorley in midfield and she found Rebecca Kemp whose driven cross was pulled back by Smith for Vella to put Chorley back in to the lead.

As the game wore on, Chorley looked well in control. Wild had a great chance to make it 3-1 but after racing on to a through ball, her low shot was saved by the goalkeeper.

Chorley were heading for the top until Brighouse level once again - Josephine Hewson turning in from a corner.
