Having just beaten a team with the best physical statistics in the league, Rovers face a Swansea side with the best passing numbers in the Championship.

That mix of styles, and the competitive nature of each game, make for a fascinating league according to Ewood boss Tony Mowbray.

It took a huge physical effort for Rovers to beat Leeds at the weekend, and that could affect Mowbray’s team selection, ahead of Saturday’s trip to West Brom.

And while Rovers face a long trip to South Wales, Mowbray says they travel with confidence.

He said: “Once one game is out of the way you quickly move on and start thinking about the next one. Looking at these three games in a week, it’s great to get the three points in the bag at the start of the week.

“It’s still always difficult after a Saturday game in which you expended so much energy to get ready for the Tuesday, especially a long trip. The coach driver is telling me it’s five-and-a-half hours to get there, it’s a long way, but they can rest and get their bodies ready to go again.

“Psychologically we should be in a good place with the confidence a win can give you. But each game stands on its own two feet, Swansea are different to Leeds.

“They are the top passers in the league. They are a team that like to have the football so it’s a challenge for us, the next test against a team who were playing in the Premier League last season but it’s one we should look forward to.

“Every game we should embrace it and go and challenge against these sort of teams.”

Rovers moved up to seventh after their weekend win, and Mowbray wants to see Rovers impose their identity on a Swansea side four points further back.

On the differing styles, the boss added: “It’s a big gap between some teams who are a bit more direct, then some really total football teams, then really athletic teams, as I spoke about before the game against Leeds.

“That’s probably down to the influence of foreign coaches and trends.

“We have to concentrate on what we do, how we play, our style and brand. We’ve tried to put a stamp on ‘this is how we play, if you’re going to beat us then you have to good at doing this’.

“We’ll keep doing what we’re doing, focus on ourselves, be very respectful of Swansea and the talent they’ve got and try and make life difficult for them.

“As we’ve found at stages this season when we’ve tried to impose our style on some teams we have had to be the ones that adapt because their style is giving us problems, even though we know what was coming. And vice versa, I’m sure teams prepare for us and how we play and adapt slightly.

“I think that’s why it’s such an entertaining league, it’s so tight.”
