Ryan Nyambe could make his return in next weekend’s trip to West Bromwich Albion.
The 20-year-old has missed Rovers’ last two matches with a hamstring injury picked up in the second half of the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest on September 29.
The international break has allowed the right back to push on with his comeback which could see him return against the Baggies next Saturday.
Elliott Bennett is set to continue deputising in his absence against Leeds United on Saturday.
Mowbray said: “The medical department have ticked him off today, he was doing his final checks with them.
“He’s been sprinting today and I would hope that maybe tomorrow, but definitely by Monday, he will be back training with the squad.
“We will be potentially aiming for West Brom next weekend for Ryan.
“I don’t think there’s any need to throw him straight back in after he’s been missing for three weeks.
“But he’s nearly ready.”
