Nottingham Forest Ladies 2

Chorley Women 0

CHORLEY Women fell to a 2-0 defeat at Northern Premier Division side Nottingham Forest Ladies in the FA Women’s National Cup.

The Magpies went to Nottingham full of confidence after coming through earlier rounds against Doncaster Rovers Belles and Newcastle United WFC.

Chorley keeper Isabelle Atkinson was called in to action to deny Helena Constantinou while at the other end, Emily Stocks struck the crossbar after connecting with a Lisa Topping cross.

The hosts got in to their groove and took the lead after 13 minutes when Viktoria Adam beat Atkinson with a powerful header.

The hosts continued to press on but two more good saves from Atkinson to deny Amy Dicken and Katie Middleton kept Chorley in the game.

As half time was approaching, Chorley nearly drew level when Rebecca Kemp tried her luck direct from a corner that Forest keeper Rebecca Thomas only just kept out.

Chorley began the second half on the front foot. Scarlett Smith evaded her marker but her low shot was palmed to safety by Thomas. Janet Mitchell then whipped in a superb cross that Grace Vella just couldn’t get to.

Despite Chorley’s growing second half pressure, Forest were awarded a penalty when Lindsay Silcock brought down Adam in the area.

Parnell stepped up and blasted the resulting spot kick past Atkinson.

In the closing stages, Topping almost gave Chorley a glimmer of hope but she was denied and it was Forest who progressed in to the next round.
