ANOTHER Billy Kee penalty and two second-half goals helped Accrington Stanley return to winning ways, beating Bradford City 3-1 at the Wham Stadium.

There were a number of near misses for the Reds in the first half before Kee broke the deadlock from the spot five minutes before the break, following a handball by Bradford defender Ryan McGowan.

Zanzala had caused problems for the visitors throughout the first half, after earning a start on the back of an influential performance and two goals in the Checkatrade Trophy win over Macclesfield Town in midweek.

And the striker demonstrated the confidence recent goals have given him by finishing expertly to make it 2-0, after latching onto a loose ball and striding into the box to slot his fourth in as many games beyond goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell.

Stanley goalkeeper Jonny Maxted had barely had a save to make before Bradford pulled a goal back through striker Eoin Doyle’s left foot volley just after the hour.

But Sean McConville soon restored the Reds’ two-goal cushion.

Captaining the side in the absence of the injured Seamus Conneely, the wide man had pestered Bradford’s backline throughout, and got his rewards at the end of a Stanley break.

John Coleman’s men ploughed forward in numbers, Jordan Clark poked the ball forward to McConville, who stroked it across O’Donnell and into the bottom corner.

The Scouser might have had another in stoppage time to demonstrate Stanley’s overall dominance, but fired a shot narrowly wide across goal and had a long-range free kick tipped over by O'Donnell.
