Rovers defenders Darragh Lenihan and Derrick Williams have both been selected in the Republic of Ireland squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League group games.

Initially included in a provisional 32-man list, the duo have now both been named in the final squad after helping Rovers secure a 1-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers.

Martin O’Neill’s side face Denmark in Dublin on Saturday (October 13), before hosting Wales three days later.

The Irish had a poor start to their Nations League campaign, losing 4-1 to Wales in Cardiff, a result they will be looking to avenge in Dublin.

Both Lenihan and Williams will be hoping to win their second caps after making their debuts during the summer internationals.

Central defender Lenihan came off the bench in a win over USA in June, with Williams have started a defeat in France the previous week.

It is the first time since then that both have been named in the final squad.

They join Charlie Mulgrew (Scotland) and Corry Evans (Northern Ireland) in being called up by their respective countries.

Meanwhile, Rovers youngster Jack Vale has been included in the Wales Under-19 squad for their international match against Poland in Bangor on Monday, October 15.
