TWO weeks ago the talk was of whether Burnley could survive in the Premier League for a third successive season. After back-to-back wins the question is now whether they can get close to last season's record-breaking campaign.

Ambitions can change quickly in football, certainly for supporters, and after victories over Bournemouth and Cardiff City the Clarets welcome Huddersfield to Turf Moor this weekend as strong favourites to make it three wins from three.

Having been bottom of the league when defeat at Wolves made it four successive Premier League losses, Sean Dyche's side could climb into the top half with a win against the Terriers.

Dyche's squad are always reluctant to be too grand with their public statements of intent, but while repeating last season's top seven finish might be a step too far, in-form winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson doesn't see a reason why they can't at least go close.

"We know it's going to be tough to end up seventh again but I don't see why we can't be up there," the 27-year-old said.

"We'll stick to what we know and how we play and hopefully we'll get plenty of points."

Burnley struggled to cope with the duel demands of the Premier League and the Europa League in the early weeks of the season, but seem to have turned a corner since their European exit, thrashing the Cherries 4-0 and grinding out a 2-1 win in south Wales last weekend.

"At the beginning of the season it was tough but over the last few weekends we've done well," Gudmundsson said.

"To get six points, it's tough to get back to back wins in the Premier League and we've done that. The next game against Huddersfield gives us a great opportunity to get three on the bounce.

"It would be massive, especially after our start. It wasn't how we wanted so if we can get three on the bounce it would be fantastic.

"We know it's going to be tough, Huddersfield want the points but we just need to want it a bit more than then."

Gudmundsson's form has been at the heart of Burnley's revival over the past couple of weeks.

The Icelander scored one and set one up at the Cardiff City Stadium, having also claimed an assist in the victory over Bournemouth.

The former Charlton winger has often expressed his desire to add more goals to his game, but he now has 11 assists in his last 41 Premier League games for the Clarets.

"I'm delighted when I can help the team get three points," he said. "I'm in good form at the moment and I just want to keep that going.

"As long as I'm contributing, whether it's assists or goals, I'm happy with that. I've always said I want to be scoring more goals and hopefully I can do that this season."
