ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman has been nominated for manager of the year at the North West Football Awards.

Coleman worked miracles at the Wham Stadium last season to lead the Reds to the League Two title and they have made a fine start to life in the third tier.

The 55-year-old is nominated alongside Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, John Askey for his work at Macclesfield Town, Wigan Athletic's Paul Cook and Micky Mellon at Tranmere Rovers.

Meanwhile Blackburn Rovers Community Trust and Burnley FC in the Community have both been nominated for the community club of the year award, while Burnley FC in the Community's transformation of the Whitehough Outdoor Centre is up for community initiative of the year.

Stanley are also up for the Fabrice Muamba award for outstanding service to football medicine and performance, with Paul Caton nominated.

The player of the year shortlists will be revealed on Tuesday, October 16, and the awards take place at Old Trafford cricket ground on Monday, November 12.
