Tony Mowbray believes his players will summon the spirit to go again after another frustrating Ewood Park draw.

Rovers have now drawn four of their opening five home matches after being pegged back by Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

They return to action against Sheffield United tomorrow, keen to chalk up a second home victory of the season.

Mowbray’s side have lost just once in their opening 10 league fixtures, but six draws leaves them in mid-table in what is a congested early Championship table.

Asked if it was difficult to keep picking up his players, the boss said: “I told them they could have Sunday off with the game on Wednesday and we’ll go again and see another performance of similar effort and desire to win the game.

“The team care, they are a great bunch of lads and I’m pleased for them that they got something out of the game but disappointed that they didn’t win it. ”

Late goals have blighted Rovers’ season so far, conceding in draws with Ipswich Town and Aston Villa as well as almost throwing away a commanding position in the win at Stoke City.

But Mowbray doesn’t believe his side have a mental issue over conceding late on.

He added: “It’s not as if we have major issue I don’t think. They’re working their socks off and I think any team in the world when there’s only one goal in it in the last few minutes of a game they all gamble and send players up, put it in your box.

“They (Forest) had two corners late on and if any team was going to win it late on then it was going to be them.”

But the boss admits those late setbacks has been hard to take, believing his players have not got what they have deserved from matches this season.

He added: “Aston Villa at home we did enough to win it but then a moment of brilliance from (Conor) Hourihane takes two points away from us.

“Ipswich we deserved to win the game after going a goal down.

“Derby away we had to dig deep to get a point, a mixture of the character we’ve got, and against Forest it feels like two points dropped so it is hard.”
