STANLEY boss John Coleman is wary of the attacking threat posed by Doncaster and their former Red Mallik Wilks.

Grant McCann's side are third in the League One table, four points and five places clear of Accrington, ahead of Tuesday night's Wham Stadium clash.

Donny have enjoyed an unbeaten September including four straight leave wins, plundering 11 goals in the process.

John Marquis leads the club scoring charts with eight while Wilks already has four league goals, one more than he managed in his 21 Stanley appearances during his loan spell with the Reds last term.

"They have done well and got good players - one we know quite well in Mallik Wilks," said the Reds boss.

"After leaving us he didn't pull up any trees at Grimsby but he has done exceptionally well for Doncaster this season. He played an important role for us last year and scored some crucial goals.

"They have John Maquis who is a very, very good striker and is exceptional at this level and his goal record is continuing to grow after two more at the weekend."

The game pits together two sides who have lost just once each so far this season and Coleman is expecting a tough test.

"Doncaster are a big club and possibly didn't perform as well as they would have liked last year," the Reds boss added. "They are in the top section of the league on merit and they are finding a way to score goals and win games and that is what we have to do."

Scoring goals has been Coleman's one criticism of his side this season, with Stanley creating, but not taking, plenty of chances.

The Reds have surprised many onlookers with their start but not the boss who feels there is more to come.

"I think it has been an adequate start," he said reflecting on the opening 10 league games. "Everyone has been saying 'you're flying' but I don't think we have done particularly well.

"We certainly have not struggled and I would just like us to score more goals to be honest. For the number of chances we create our conversion rate is not great so we need to improve that and if we can improve that then we are capable of winning more games.

"We think this squad can compete in this league, I certainly think we can compete in the top half rather than the bottom half.

"I am sure there are 20 managers thinking the same as me, you have to be positive as a manager and we have belief in the squad."
