IT wasn't until five minutes before the break that this Lancashire derby really sparked into life.
Although Burnley had dominated the opening 45 minutes, chances were at a premium.
Chris McCann had the best effort for the Clarets just before the break, and was only denied an opener by the ball bouncing the wrong side of the line after rattling the crossbar with his 18 yard drive.
Andy Gray had earlier gone close when he headed Wade Elliott's right-wing cross narrowly over the bar on 18 minutes.
Blackpool might have fared better up front had Keigan Parker and Andy Morrell not been continually caught offside, but Parker managed to avoid the linesman's flag in the last minute of the first half. Clarke Carlisle's brilliant tackle put the striker off his initial shot before Brian Jensen made a brilliant save from the follow-up.
