SEAN Dyche won't be ripping up his Clarets template and starting again - despite the club's worst start to a top flight campaign in 91 years.

Burnley lost all of their first five league games in 1927/28, but while they have one point on the board this season they have lost their last four games and some in worrying fashion.

But Dyche pointed to 'a lot of good work' that has gone on at Burnley on his watch since October 2012 and while he insists he's open minded about making changes, he won't be starting again as he looks to end the disappointing start that has the Clarets propping up the Premier League table.

"You’ve got to be open minded about what you are doing. Are the players still excited by the challenge?, " Dyche said.

"But the balance is not going too far away. We’ve build a lot of good things over the past five and a half years.

"You’ve got to remember that there’s a lot of good work goes on here.

"It’s adding in things, to find the right balance. It’s definitely not restarting in that sense."

The next chance to pick up a first win of the season comes at Turf Moor against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Eddie Howe's side could be a good example to the Clarets, with the Cherries losing their first four games of last season before recovering to finish 12th.

That was still five places and 10 points behind Burnley, but despite the heroics of last season the Clarets have quickly reverted back to underdogs, a tag Dyche insists he'd rather now have.

"We’ve gone full circle in a short time frame," Dyche said. "People thought Burnley would be strong enough this season, I wasn’t taking is as powerful as that.

"Now we’re back to being underdogs again. We’re back to being Burnley of before, the underdog punching above its weight.

"It’s the history of the club. In the last five years, no one has said we are favourites for anything. The second promotion, we were among the top favourites but not the out and out favourites. I would prefer not to have the tag because that means things are going well."

Despite the disappointing start to the campaign Dyche still has faith in his squad.

But he has told them that they have to work had to correct their poor run, rather than just waiting for it to happen.

"It’s not about trying to change the story, we’ve got some very good players," Dyche said.

"They haven’t performed yet as a collective, but that’s a very good group of players, I believe in all of them.

"Even very good players can have spells when it's tough, that’s what it is, coming out of that and working to come out of it, not just waiting.

"We have to go and fight and work."
