BARNOLDSWICK were made to pay for missed chances as they lost 3-2 at home to City of Liverpool in the Hallmark Security League Premier Division.

Barlick had won four league games on the spin heading into the match but were undone by a combination of their own profligacy and Liverpool's clinical finishing.

The visitors led 1-0 at the break despite having been on the back foot for most of the half and extended their lead with two goals early in the second period.

But Matt Barnes' side responded and Elliott Fenton reduced the arrears before Zak Dale set up a frantic finale with his headed finish but it came too late to rescue a point.

Barlick return to action when they host Runcorn Town on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Padiham are out of the FA Vase after losing their second qualifying round replay 6-2 at Prestwich Heys.

The Storks trailed 1-0 at the break but the visitors put the game beyond doubt with two goals in the opening 15 minutes of the second half.

Jack Tinning pulled one back for Padiham before the home side added a fourth. Liam O'Neill reduced the deficit with a penalty eight minutes from time but there was still time for Prestwich to score a further two to secure their place in the first round proper.

Padiham are back in league action on Saturday when they host Litherland REMYCA.

Meanwhile, in the Integro League Cup first round Colne defeated Kendal Town 2-0.

Ramsbottom United entertain Clitheroe in the cup tonight.
