IT was a great weekend for us. To come away with two victories was just what we needed and I am really pleased with the way we played.

On Saturday we made the long journey to Scotland to play Murrayfield Racers in the cup and got a 3-2 win.

It could have been more comfortable for us but for the refereeing. I think we had penalties for 40 of the 60 minutes and it may as well have been figure skating not ice skating.

It was poor all round and I am not one to give the referees grief but they just weren’t very good. Anything physical was punished and it had an impact on the game.

But we managed to come away with the right result.

And then to get the first league win of the season on Sunday was fantastic, especially considering the long journey we had on Saturday.

It is never nice playing a double-header with a long away trip. The game itself is tiring but you add in the 10 hours spent on a coach and the fact you have a game the next day and it can take its toll.

It makes me laugh when you see footballers complaining about playing on a Thursday and a Sunday when we play twice in 24 hours!

We played well on Sunday and got a good result. It was a hard game and we were behind 1-0 and 2-1, as we were on Saturday, but we showed great character to come back and that is something we have in abundance this season.

I also want to give a special mention to Harrison Walker who was in net for us in both games.

He is only 16 and we wanted to give him a chance in the cup game and he played really well. As a result he kept the shirt for the league game.

He was calm and relaxed and I think he faced more than 60 shots in two games and only let four in.

He is on a dual contract with us and Bradford Under-18s and I really do think he is going to be a star of the future.
