MATCH of the Day pundit Jermaine Jenas said Burnley had to take more risks in their attacking play after making life 'too easy' for Wolves on Sunday.

The Clarets were only beaten 1-0 at Molineux but they were comprehensively outclassed by Wanderers, who had 30 shots at Burnley's goal and the scoreline could have been much wider but for an overworked Joe Hart and some wayward finishing.

"Watching that game you thought Burnley were the side who have just come up. They looked a bit confused at times as to what their plan was," Jenas said on Match of the Day 2.

"It was too easy for Wolves. I don't think they're taking enough risks at times. Wolves have seven players back against Burnley's two.

"They need to take a risk, let's get on the front foot. They don't even look like they believe they're going to win that second ball.

"Sometimes you have to get back to basics in football. Gudmundsson puts a cross in here and the front two make the same run to the near post. That's a clear indication they're not signing off the hymn sheet at the minute."

Leon Osman pointed to Burnley's form from the back end of last season as well to highlight the struggles they were going through and said they looked a shadow of the side who did so well for most of last term.

"They're in a big slump, that's three points now from their last 30. It's something Sean Dyche will want to address as quickly as possible," he said.

"The Burnley we saw last season were on the front foot, they were anticipating knockdowns, they were really in your face. This season they've become reactive, they wait to see what happens, they're not quite sure how they're going to react.

"When they get in possession they're not making sure whose making runs, where the next pass is. Burnley haven't quite worked out how to attack yet."

After defeat in the Midlands Dyche said it could be difficult for players who are being criticised during a slump in form.

Osman added: "It is difficult, you know when you're being criticised. You try to be brave but it takes an incredibly strong character to keep putting yourself in that situation when you know criticism will come.

"Sean Dyche is a strong manager, he's got a team full of character. A fog has descended on them at the moment but I'm pretty sure they'll find a way out."
