BURNLEY have to rediscover the traits that made them such a daunting proposition for opponents, according to goalkeeper Joe Hart.

The 75-cap England international was the Clarets’ star man in the 1-0 defeat to Wolves at Molineux and but for Hart’s heroics it could have been a much heavier defeat.

As it was it was a fourth successive Premier League reverse and with West Ham winning at Everton the Clarets have sunk to the foot of the table after five games.

It was another disappointing performance and Hart admitted there were no excuses for the side having had the international break to shake off their European exertions.

“We were miles off,” he said.

“We’ve got no excuses this time. There were no games in mid-week. We’ve got to have a good look at ourselves and go again.”

Burnley have picked up just one point in the league this season, away at Southampton on the opening weekend, and Hart believes the club have to ‘start living in the now’ to turn their campaign around, following a seventh placed finish last term.

“We’re a good, strong group of players with a good manager and we’re being tested at the moment. But that’s what life’s about, isn’t it?” the 31-year-old said.

“We need to get back to being the Burnley that was there before and no-one wanted to play against.

“I’m sure we have a lot more quality than people give us credit for and we need to start playing like that.

“The past is the past for everyone, including myself and we need to start living in the now with this squad.

“We’ve got to move forward as Burnley and start winning some games.

“We’ve got to be real with each other, real with the manager and we move forward. We’ve got good quality, good desire and good team spirit and we have to start translating that.”

Hart was impressed with the hosts, with Wolves recording their second straight league win and the Shropshire-born goalkeeper can sense the feel-good factor in Wolverhampton.

“Wolves played well and on a high. They have started well. It’s a fantastic club. Molineux looks brilliant,” he said.

“I’ve got family who live in this part of the world and there’s a real buzz around the place.

“But that’s too much about them. It should be about us and we didn’t do what we wanted to do today.

“We’re all going to work hard. We’re all going to look in the mirror and move forward. We need to stick together and go again.”
