Rovers reporter Rich Sharpe hands out the player ratings from the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa at Ewood Park.

David Raya 6

His wall was called in to question for the equalising goal. Few stand-out saves of note but showed good handling at times with a save underneath his crossbar from Abraham.

Ryan Nyambe 7

An excellent defensive display in which he contained the lively Adomah well throughout. In the attacking third, one cross of note headed over by Graham.

Darragh Lenihan 6

Started off terrifically well, causing a nuisance in the Villa box which saw him denied on the line. But had a wobbly end to the half which put his side in trouble twice.

Charlie Mulgrew 8 (MAN OF THE MATCH)

Excellent deliveries in to the box brought one goal, but should have brought more. Played a role in the goal Dack did score with some neat footwork. In defence, looked strong and shackled Tammy Abraham well on a timely return to form.

Amari’i Bell 7

Was overloaded down his side at times but defended well. Kept trying to drive forward and had some success against Hutton.

Richie Smallwood 7

No player on the pitch made more tackles, while only Jack Grealish had a better pass completion rate. Improved display battling away in the middle of the pitch.

Corry Evans 6

Used the ball economically as Rovers took charge late in the first half. Taken off shortly after picking up a yellow card.

Elliott Bennett 6

Moved around the pitch during various stages of the game. Got through plenty of work, but had little effect in the final third.

Bradley Dack 8

Some flashes of magic in the first half and wrongly saw a goal chalked off for offside. Was quieter after the break until marking his return to the side with a neat flick for his fifth of the season.

Adam Armstrong 6

Had some good moments attacking Hutton in the first half, but drifted out of the game in the second. Could get a run in his preferred central role at Derby.

Danny Graham 6

Involved in a tussle with the Villa backline throughout and got little by way of protection from the referee. Was his shot that was turned in by Dack.

Subs

Ben Brereton (for Corry Evans, 58) 5

Struggled to get involved in the game in a wide right role.

Harrison Reed (for Richie Smallwood, 66) 7

A bundle of energy after coming on and hand in the goal, as well as seeing a shot fly over. Picked up a booking and was deemed to have fouled Grealish for the free-kick form which Hourihane score

Derrick Williams (for Adam Armstrong, 73) 6

Was his lay-off for Graham’s shot leading up to the Rovers goal. His arrival allowed Rovers to move to a back three late on.

Subs not used: Jayson Leutwiler, Joe Rothwell, Craig Conway, Kasey Palmer
