BURNLEY-born stopper Rachel Brown insists there is nothing to fear as England face champions Germany tomorrow in the Women's World Cup.

England took a point in their opening Group A fixture when drawing 1-1 against Japan.

But they face a mammoth challenge in tomorrow's 1pm fixture in Shanghai, China, against World Cup holders Germany, who thrashed Argentina 11-0 in their opening match.

Despite the difficult task ahead, Everton goalkeeper Brown feels England can pull off a surprise result.

"We will go into the game knowing we've got to go for it and there's a chance for us," said Brown, 27.

"We played Germany in January in the China Cup and we got a draw against them and played really well.

"We know what they are like and what they can do - we know their strengths and weaknesses.

"We'll be very well prepared and we feel we can get something out of the game."

Before taking on the World Cup favourites, England will anxiously await the result of Japan's encounter with Argentina.

And Brown is hoping for a helping hand from the South Americans, with the top two Group A sides qualifying for the tournament's last eight.

She added: "I'm sure Argentina will be looking to put things right after getting mullered by Germany the other day.

"I'm hoping they can move on from that against Japan and take something out of that game, that will then put is into a promising position."
