JOHN Coleman praised the impact of his substitutes after Accrington Stanley came back from behind for the fifth game in a row.

Loanees Connor Hall and Dan Barlaser impressed after making their debuts from the bench, while Offrande Zanzala came on to earn the penalty that Billy Kee converted to earn a point against Burton Albion, and extend their unbeaten run to six games.

And Zanzala might have scored a stoppage time winner had it not been for a point blank save.

Stanley had made a bright start and created early chances, but trailed when Scott Fraser scored his first for the Brewers in the 11th minute.

Burton enjoyed a spell of pressure after that and could have increased their advantage.

But Coleman threw caution to the wind on a damp day at the Wham Stadium with a three-pronged attack.

And it paid off when Zanzala was brought down by Kyle McFadzean, and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot for Kee to grab his third for the season – and second from the spot – to level in the 84th minute, “It’s déjà vu isn’t it,” said Coleman of Stanley’s habit of falling behind.

“The subs have made an impact and when we did score we looked to go and get another one and the keeper’s made a great save at the end.

“But we don’t want to be having to doing this all the while. Our plan A is good enough and we showed that in the first 10 minutes because we opened them up like a tin of beans in the first 10 minutes. We could have been two-up, but we’ve got to take those chances and then keep it tight at the other end.

“We’ve got to be able to change our style during a game and not just wait for the direction off me, and we’ve got to be able to do that on the pitch. Just sometimes our decision making left a bit to be desired.

“We got bogged down and I think we started to feel sorry for ourselves and we wanted to blame the referee, we wanted blame 101 different things.

“The referee’s not missing chances.

“We’ve got to stop trying to deflect and realise our own inadequacies and do something about it.”

Coleman added: “Again we’ve missed good chances today, could have been two-up before they scored. They are a decent side and they passed the ball well and when they scored they got their tails up. They created a few more chances but didn’t really trouble our keeper much.

“But we’ve got to start winning at home if we’re going to have that much domination and going to make that many chances. I think every game we’ve played this season we’ve finished the stronger of the two teams, so it shows that we’re doing things right.

“We’ve just got to be a bit more clinical in front of goal and we’ve got to strive to get this clean sheet because that’s what ultimately stopping us from winning games.

“We’re scoring goals, we’re just not keeping them out at the other end.

“They drove through the middle of us today and got the goal and after that I think there was a bit of a lull and we felt sorry for ourselves for half an hour. We’ve got to knock that out of ourselves. Once we got going again with 25 minutes to go there was only one team in the game and one team who was going to score.”
