STANLEY boss John Coleman has laid down the law to striker Lee McEvilly after his sending off against Peterborough last week.

The former Wrexham man was given his marching orders after appearing to stamp on Posh's Jamie Day after coming on as a substitute.

Coleman admitted he would deal with McEvilly, who will serve a three match ban and misses tomorrow's game against Grimsby, once he had time to review the incident.

And Coleman said: "We've dealt with It internally. I thought it was a ridiculous challenge at the time and I wanted to be certain and, after seeing the video, I am.

"Lee knows it's unacceptable behaviour. He's apologised to the staff and the players and he realises things like that and it won't be tolerated here.

"We have dealt with it under our own disciplinary procedures.

"Maybe it will show people that we're not going to tolerate it. The players know what the disciplinary code is and it's not going to be tolerated here.

"Anything else like that will see a far more severe, not that the punishment wasn't severe, but the following ones will be moreso.

"We working our hardest to improve our discipline and I think we are going in the right direction.

"Hopefully, people be talking about us for our yellow cards and our red cards, but for us scoring goals."
