Burnley and Rovers players will be aiming to add to their respective haul of caps during the international break.

Clarets trio Stephen Ward, Kevin Long and Jeff Hendrick will be aiming to be involved for the Republic of Ireland as they face Wales at Cardiff in a Nations League group game on Thursday.

Martin O'Neill's men are on their travels again on Tuesday (September 11) as they travel to Wroclaw to take on Poland.

Also on Thursday, Rovers' new signing Ben Brereton will hope for a first England Under-20 cap as they face Switzerland at St George's Park (2pm).

Paul Simpson's squad will also head to Holland on Monday, September 10 (6pm) for the second of their two international break fixtures.

Charlie Mulgrew has captained Scotland in three of their four matches under Alex McLeish. And although he has lost the armband to Liverpool full-back Andrew Robertson, he will hope to make it cap number 37 when the Tartan Army face Belgium in a friendly in Glasgow on Friday.

The Scots get their Nations League campaign underway when they host Albania on Monday.

Rovers midfielder Corry Evans is closing in on 50 caps for his country, and will look to move closer to that mark when Northern Ireland host Bosnia in a Nations League fixture on Saturday (2pm).

Michael O'Neill's men are then in friendly action when they host Israel at Windsor Park on Tuesday.

Clarets defender James Tarkowski is back in the England set-up and will aim for his second cap when Gareth Southgate's Three Lions welcome Spain to Wembley for a Nations League qualifier on Saturday (7.45pm).

They head to Leicester City on Tuesday for a friendly with Switzerland.
